The Oxygen cable channel has given viewers a glimpse of its upcoming reality show based on Mobile's Prancing Elites dance team, but for now details remain scant.

A new video clip depicts the five-man squad bursting into a couple of businesses, to the apparent amazement of onlookers, and parading down Joachim Street in front of the Mobile Saenger Theatre. (Sharp-eyed viewers will recognize one of the bystanders in Three Georges Candy as Wayne Dean, known for his portrayals of legendary Mardi Gras figure Chief Slacabamorinico.)

While the clip definitely creates a sense of style, it's short on details other than to say that "The Prancing Elites Project" is "coming soon." A publicist involved with the show confirmed on Wednesday that a premiere date hasn't yet been locked down. The clip can be seen at the Oxygen.com homepage for the show.

Owned by a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, Oxygen is a cable channel focusing on programming designed to appeal to women, especially younger women. The Prancing Elites is a team of five gay men from Mobile and Baldwin counties who practice a style of dance called J-settingfeaturing distinctly feminine attire and moves.

The group's appearances have inspired divergent reactions, and have gained notoriety well outside the area thanks in part to exposure on "America's Got Talent", "The Real" and "Tosh.0." Locally, their appearances at various venues during Mardi Gras season have generated considerable excitement on social media.

Work on the show has been under way since last fall. For updates, visit www.oxygen.com or "The Prancing Elites Project" Facebook page.
